True words indeed, but you have to remember, movies are made to make money first and entertain second. It's only the brave or struggling and often both directors and or producers that go for the gusto and hit you with realism that is too close for comfort. A movie such as this on the big screen, the big stage, well I hate to admit it, but the masses that pay the ticket prices we are forced to pay at theaters... demand something a bit more than regular. I just don't think people would have payed to see a true adaptation from book to screen. Plus, it just couldn't happen. Allen Moore is too brilliant to be copied. That's why I let my expectations go on this one and just watched it for what it was. I must end now because I'm dangerously close to turning this from a comment into a blog. My bad.

I agree with you on all of your points. The opening credits were spot-on and thrilling - other parts once the film started, too. But yeah... too much "super" in these heroes as far as I'm concerned.

Further to the soundtrack, great music that often pulled you out of the movie and made everything into a great music video. It would have, perhaps, been better to have more subtle choices.
